In many living rooms or even home cinemas, a  5.1 set  are not optimally placed, as would be necessary for direct radiators in the rear area. In order to get a good sense of space under these circumstances without being able to locate a loudspeaker directly, ideally one works with a diffuse sound source such as this  quadral PHASE 16 .

 Using a toggle switch on the back, the loudspeaker can be used as a dipole, bipole or as a normal loudspeaker. The setting as a dipole is recommended for small rooms, as the two tweeters work in antiphase and thus ensure a diffuse sound image. In bipole mode, both tweeters are controlled in phase and they work in the normal position  PHASE 16  like a direct radiator with only one tweeter.
